Vocabulary a week: #2 - Friday, October 20

For the next few months, we will be publishing small sets of customized vocabularies based on popular news items. The vocabularies will feature a set of new words which (fingers crossed) have never before existed in the common vocabulary known as the English language.

The vocabulary words and accompanying definitions are computer generated using a multi-step definition generator. Output of the generator will be enhanced and tweaked over time as new theories are tested and new ideas come to light. More information on the GTR Dictionary Project can be found here : GTR Dictionary Project.

They are even holding a "mash-up" contest to bring attention to their new service and to see how people can use the results of their system in some creative combination with other web services like Google maps etc.

The Dictionary ProjectThe Dictionary Project is a poetic and theoretical investigative project aimed at the construction of software which generates new domain specific terminology using an ontologically driven text generation system. The software not only creates new words which have never before existed, but definitions for the words themselves which simulates the knowledge creation process.
